TRAIN IN PRIVATE – LOOK GOOD IN PUBLIC – LIVE WELL – AGE WELL™

Frequently Asked Questions

Great question – after all – we’re all about being frugal. BUT, remember, every professional athlete has a trainer and coach and they are at the top of their sport. Personal fitness trainers and coaches help even the best athletes be better. For an ordinary person, a personal fitness trainer can make the difference between success and failure; between injury and safety; between success and failure at weight loss. We put together some of the most commonly agreed upon reasons to have a personal fitness trainer.

  • Accountability and Motivation

With most people, life gets in the way of anything they would do for themselves. Work becomes all consuming. Parents find their formerly free time occupied with children – their needs; their wants; their activities all come first. So, by working with a personal fitness trainer, you are committing to spending time on yourself and your trainer will be expecting you to meet your appointment time and, for most, that in itself is huge. You have someone who is reminding you of your goals. Someone who encourages you to work harder, to do more AND to do it consistently. Someone who will keep exercising fresh and fun and who will celebrate your successes each step of the way.

  • Learning about Health, Fitness and your Body; Sport-specific training; Exercising with Physical Limitations.

Working with a personal fitness trainer isn’t just about the workout. Personal fitness trainers go through a certification process that requires them to learn a lot about the body. So, a personal fitness trainer will be prepared to discuss the functionality of your body structure and why a certain exercise will assist you in attaining a specific goal. Learning more about healthy eating habits and learning what your body can actually do, especially if you have physical limitations. And, if you have a specific sport you are working on, a personal trainer can put the physicality needed for your sport together with an appropriate fitness program to help you improve in your favorite sport.

  • Goal Setting

When people work out on their own, their workouts typically consist of doing what they feel comfortable doing; doing what they have always done. But, a personal fitness trainer will do so much more than let you work out in your normal way doing your normal exercises. One of the first things a personal fitness trainer will do is discuss your goals. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to walk your daughter down the aisle and look good doing it? Do you want to go to Europe and be able to walk all over the cities, up and down all those steps? Do you want to be able to play on the floor with your grandchildren? Whatever your short or long term goals, your personal fitness trainer will help you assess your physical condition and work on a plan to help you achieve your goal within a reasonable time.

  • Individual Plans.

A personal fitness trainer will assess your personal strengths and weaknesses and based on those physical characteristics develop a plan that will help you meet your goals. A knowledgeable personal fitness trainer does not try to squeeze everyone into the same fitness routine. Rather, the fitness routine is designed to fit the person and their goals.

  • Nutritional advice

If your goal is weight loss, gaining muscle and strength or both, your diet plays a key role. Personal fitness trainers are not dieticians but a personal fitness trainer often has training and experience in nutrition and can work with you on identifying your eating habits and determining how you can modify them to achieve your goals.

  • Aging Gracefully.

As we age, bodies change. Too often, when we exercise on our own, we don’t recognize that things have changed. We try to work out in our 40’s just as we did in our 20’s – oftentimes with bad results. We could hurt ourselves that way! A personal fitness trainer can help you where you are by age and physical fitness – and, working with you where you are (and not where you were and not where you want to be) get you to a fitness level that permit you to maximize your balance, strength and functionality.

  • Mental health and Confidence.

Working out can improve your self-image, your self-confidence and your overall mental health. There is much research on the positive effect physical activity can have on mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. By increasing blood circulation to the brain, individuals experience a reduction in stress and improved mood and cognitive function. And, most people appreciate having a person who will listen to them and not judge them. A person who takes an interest in them, their career, their family and struggles 0 their life. A personal fitness trainer can fill all those functions.

  • Promote healthy lifestyle change.

The goal of a personal fitness trainer is to help you achieve your fitness goals within a reasonable period of time. That is often accomplished by making little changes over time. Small changes over time can be more effective in the long run than an attempt to make a radical change overnight. And exercise is beneficial in managing or even preventing many chronic ailments such as Type II diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. And, if you have a chronic ailment, a personal fitness trainer can be helpful to prevent harm and promote a safe exercise experience which yields beneficial results.

  • Safe Exercising

Too often individuals do not know the best techniques for exercising safely. Furthermore, since we cannot see themselves from every angle, we may not know what we are doing wrong. A personal fitness trainer will work with you to develop safe and effective exercises and movements. Learning good techniques and appropriate modifications from a personal fitness trainer will go a long way to keeping you moving toward your goals without injury.

  • Variety and FUN.

When we exercise, chances are we do the same old thing every time – or we alternate between two or three different but set exercise routines. Where’s the fun in that? A good personal fitness trainer can exercise the same muscle groups in many different ways; the goal of a personal fitness trainer is to keep the exercises fresh – and fun! The goal is to make the workout the highlight of your day – in terms of energy and FUN!
